Performs duties as the Aviation Nondestructive Inspector (NDI) level III Technician under the direction of the Production Control Manager. Interpret codes, standards, and other contractual documents that control the NDI/NDT method(s) assumes technical responsibility for the NDI/NDT facility and staff. Provides direction, training, examination, and certification of personnel in the method in which they are certified. Conducts NDI/NDT for acceptance of parts. Prepares forms and records related to aircraft maintenance. Ensures that all related maintenance operations are conducted in a safe manner.

A. Duties/responsibilities:

  1. Ensures that aircraft NDI functional activities and procedures among designated organizations are planned, coordinated, integrated, and synchronized to achieve established platform operational readiness (OR) rates IAW contractual requirements.
  2. Responsible for the compliance with established maintenance systems, processes, procedures and reports that provide immediate situational awareness of platform OR rates.
  3. Establishes daily maintenance operational goals, objectives and priorities for implementation in order to achieve stated OR rates.
  4. Ensures all maintenance operations and related maintenance support activities are conducted in a safe manner.
  5. Oversees and manages all directed NDI level III maintenance and OJT activities; directs and coordinates the program activities of all NDI level II aviation maintenance.
  6. Other duties as assigned

B. Independence: Performs within the broad guidelines of duties and responsibilities with significant choice of methods. Authority to select and implement goals and objectives within the execution of duties and responsibilities.


C. Supervisory Responsibilities: None


A. Education Level: High school diploma required.


B. Experience: Five (4) years’ NDI experience required.  Qualified by the appropriate USG armed forces aircraft power train maintenance course or civilian equivalent required. Previous NDI Level II experience required.  Ten (10) years’ experience performing maintenance on US Army aircraft desired.


C. Specific knowledge, skill, and ability requirements:  

  1. Certificate: NDI Level III certificated by USG armed forces or civilian equivalent.
  2. Proficient in the use of computer-hosted interactive technical manuals, aircraft maintenance forms, and other aircraft related documentation.
  3. Experience with documenting performed NDI inspection tasks of aircraft and aircraft components relative to the inspection, modification and repair of military aircraft is required.
  4. Must meet Level 3 qualification process hour standards in accordance with National Aerospace Standard 410 (NAS410) in Eddy Current, Ultrasonic, Magnetic Particle, Dye Penetrant and Radiography NDI disciplines.
  5. Must demonstrate skills and knowledge to set up, calibrate and operate equipment, conduct inspections and to interpret, evaluate and document results in accordance with procedures approved and utilized by the appropriate Level III or Government customer agency.
  6. The individual shall be able to organize and document NDI results.
  7. The individual shall be familiar with the codes, standards, process controls and other contractual documents that control the method as utilized by the Company or customer agency.
  8. Ability to communicate both orally and written.
  9. Possesses a valid driver’s license.
