Functions as the Aviation Logistics Manager. Oversees, manages, and directs all Aviation Logistics Manager and logistics activities; coordinates with all DAT logistics manager. Oversees the daily logistics activities in support of all logistic maintenance activities. Works to identify and resource maintenance repair parts, components, spares, and supplies; manage multimodal transportation/goods movement and packaging; supervise warehouse and distribution nodes; ensure customs and regulatory compliance; direct the efforts of vendors and subcontractors; and oversee the logistics management information system (MIS) to include forecasting, planning, and supply chain optimization functions.

A. Duties/responsibilities: Responsible for the logistics and SCM support activities associated with AFSS.

  1. Establishment of a Logistics/SCM (LSCM) program in support of AFSS.
  2. Performance of logistics activities unique to the logistical support of airfield activities.
  3. Processing and submission of requisitions inclusive of invoice control, supplier management, and purchase orders.
  4. Processing and delivery of materials in accordance with regulations and procedures.
  5. Inventory management to include multi-node warehouse and distribution supervision, storage management, issue/collection windows, warranty administration, kitting, and phase maintenance preparation.
  6. Material management to include repair of repairable, spares, bench stock, and consumables; working knowledge of lead times and impact to cost, schedule, and planned/unplanned workloads.
  7. Planning and optimization to include forecasting and operational levels.
  8. Transportation management to include packaging, freight forwarding, in-country goods movement, customs brokering, and export/import.
  9. MIS administration.
  10. LSCM training to include OJT.
  11. Personnel staffing and management of logistics support team.
  12. Management of vendor and supplier support activities.
  13. Quality control and oversight of subordinate job performance. 

B. Independence:  Performs within the broad guidelines of duties and responsibilities with significant choice of methods. Authority to select and implement goals and objectives within the execution of duties and responsibilities.


C. Supervisory Responsibilities: Primary Supervisor for all Logistics & Supply Chain Management Activities.


A. Education Level:  Bachelor’s degree required. Graduate of US Army Aviation Officer Advanced Course, Combined Logistics Officer Advance Course, Warrant Advanced Course, or master’s degree preferred. Military Education Level 4 (MEL4) desired.


B. Experience: 15 years experience in US Army Logistics/Supply Chain Management (LSCM) (or 12 years military LSCM, 6 years industry/civilian experience) required. Former LTC, MAJ, CW4, or CW3 preferred. Five years industry/civilian experience preferred. Military LSCM experience within the last 5-8 years desired. Former Maintenance Test Pilot (MTP) or Senior Crew Chief desired.


C. Specific knowledge, skill, and ability requirements:  Must possess an understanding of the US Army aviation logistics system specific to aircraft maintenance and repair.  Demonstrated performance in the management of best-in-class industry supply chain principles – inventory management; forecasting/optimization and planning; stock, store, and issue; material handling, packaging, and transportation / goods movement; logistics IT systems; and Logistics/Supply Chain Management (LSCM) training.  A working knowledge of property accountability and reporting, quality control, vendor/subcontractor management, and import/export administration. Proficient with Microsoft Office to include Word, Excel and PowerPoint.  Participates in meetings and conferences, as required.  Ability to communicate effectively both orally and written.  Ability to deal effectively with people in the supervision of staff.  Ability to effectively communicate with the customer in a professional and courteous manner.  Strong organizational and work management skills.  US Citizenship is required for access to export/import control information.  Possess a valid driver’s license.  Other duties as assigned.
