Unit Training


Control analyst in the management of Mobile Exercise Control Trailer Workstation. Unit training support implementing a full range of software applications. Translates OPFOR and BLUFOR into an exercise simulation database into a model, simulation or report. Provides analysis of the War Fighting Functions (WFF) and identifies strengths and weaknesses as they occur during a simulation-supported event. Collective training support for brigades undergoing modernization, five (5) Mechanized Infantry Brigades MNG and Sector HQs, and NGMS.  Assists in the planning, preparation, synchronization, coordination and execution of FTXs, CPXs, OPFOR Training, and BST in all aspects of DOTLMPF.

A. Duties/responsibilities:

  1. Operates the management of the mobile Exercise Control Trailer Workstation through software applications and computer hardware.
  2. Assists in the planning, preparation, coordination, synchronization, and execution in support of training exercises at all levels.
  3. Assists in the planning and coordination, in concert with OPM, the collective training assessment of MNG units.
  4. Collect digital data in the form of video, battlefield snapshots, and observations for input into the After Action Review.
  5. Provide subject matter expert level knowledge on collective training methods at Platoon through Brigade level.
  6. Assists in maintaining operator level maintenance on all Exercise Control equipment.
  7. Assists in the preparation of plans for upgrading of training in all aspects of DTLOMPF as required.
  8. Be knowledgeable of All War Fighting Functions (WFF) and Decisive Action Training Environment (DATE) Operations.
  9. Translate real world or fictional force structures into an exercise simulation database for entry into a model, simulation, or report.
  10. Develops and writes operations plans, orders and graphics in support of all maneuver exercises from Platoon through Brigade.
  11. Prepares, supervises, and conducts any training/mission assigned by MECS Management.
  12. Performs other duties as assigned.

B. Supervisory Responsibilities: Performs duties under the general supervision of the Chief of MECS.  Performs tasks within broad objectives IAW approved doctrine with significant choice of methods to achieve desired results.


A. Education Level: Associates Degree in Computer Science or related field, preferred.  Captain’s Career Course or SLC (NCOES School) Graduate and minimum Battalion MFE Planning and Operations preferred.  An equivalent combination of college level courses, military training, or job site experience may be substituted. 


B. Experience: Require MFE experience; prefer former Operations Officer or Senior Operations NCO.  Minimum of 2 years operations experience preferred.  Experience in DATE Operations development, training, and/or operations.  CTC O/C-T experience or Operational Deployment experience preferred. Digital Tactical Operations Center experience preferred.


C. Specific knowledge, skill, and ability, requirements: Understanding, knowledge of pertinent military regulations, and guidelines concerning job related activities.  Possesses cultural knowledge that enhances relationships with Foreign Country Militaries.  Has in-depth knowledge of tactical MFE operations.  Decisive Action and Modern Environment knowledge.  Communicates effectively verbally and in writing. Familiar with Oracle Database, and the latest MS operating system(s).
