Supervisor, MILES Operations

Unit Training


Plans, directs, coordinates and supervises the activities of IMILES Operations within TASC in support of the MNG.  Develops and implements policies and procedures for the storage, issue, and turn in of equipment. Maintains quality assurance and control of equipment.  Supervises IMILES Contact Teams, Technician Teams, and Warehouse personnel.  Provides assistance to Contractor Trainers, OPM Advisors and MNG Forces on all IMILES-related issues. Assists with fielding the IMILES equipment using the Exercise Control (EXCON) trailers and the Relay Base Station (RBS) trailer.

A. Duties/Responsibilities:

  1. Coordinates for the Contractor Logistics repair of equipment as required.
  2. Provides and supervises trainers who provide advice, assistance, and evaluation of training for the MNG unit Commanders and S-3s on the utilization of IMILES equipment during LAV gunnery training, sustainment training, and integration of IMILES equipment into unit training programs.
  3. Provides and supervises trainers who advise and assist MNG units, TSMDU, and NGMS instructors on installation and bore sighting of IMILES equipment.
  4. Provides and supervises trainers who train and evaluate MNG crews and platoons during cleaning, testing, and preventive maintenance.
  5. Provides and supervises contact teams that assist units with the installation and employment of IMILES equipment and conduct daily field visits to provide training assistance and troubleshoot and repair/replace inoperable components of IMILES equipment
  6. Performs duties as Simulators/Simulations instructor.
  7. Conducts and supervises Train-The-Trainer (T3), refresher and New Equipment Training (NET) courses to OPM and MNG units.
  8. Field the IMILES equipment using the ExCon and RBS trailers.
  9. Works under the supervision of the Chief, Training Simulations Section (TSS), operating with broad objectives and with independent choice of methods.
  10. Performs other mission- or administrative-related duties as required or assigned.

B. Supervisory Responsibilities: Supervise all personnel assigned  to MILES Operations


A. Education Level: High School Graduate, Associate Degree preferred.  Former Senior Noncommissioned Officer. Graduate of an Officer Basic a Senior Leader Course.  Bradley/Abrams/TOW Master Gunner course graduate required.

B. Experience: Minimum of 5 years of training experience in a U.S. armor, cavalry, or mechanized infantry battalion/brigade.  5 years’ experience in property accountability. CMTC and/or NTC experience desirable.  Hands-on experience in use of Armor/Bradley simulators and training devices.  Five years’ experience working with MILES equipment. Previous LAV Family of Vehicles experience preferred.


C. Specific Knowledge, Skills, and Abilities Requirements: Knowledgeable in supervisory techniques.  Knowledgeable of Bradley/Tank gunnery training programs and other gunnery training simulators and MILES equipment.  Must be able to communicate orally and in writing, read and understand technical and training manuals.  Must have the ability to deal effectively with people. Must be computer literate and proficient in Microsoft Office Professional Software.  Must possess a valid US driver’s license.
