Overview

Responsible for providing training advice, assistance, and evaluation to the Battalions in planning, programming and coordinating operations, training and gunnery programs.  Advises assists and evaluates all assigned units in training, doctrine and operations and LAV unique requirements.

A. Duties/Responsibilities:

  1. Conducts evaluations of the unit's ability to perform battle focused tasks.
  2. Assist the Battalion S-3 in planning, preparation and conduct of Basic, Intermediate, and Advanced Gunnery Training.
  3. Assist the Battalion S-3 in development of programs to retrain weaknesses following sustainment training.
  4. Assists the Battalion S-3 in identifying and coordinating training resources.
  5. Assists the Battalion S-3 in the coordination, planning and execution of STXs' and FTXs' and LAV gunnery.
  6. Assists (3) Company Commanders in planning and coordination of all tactical, gunnery and security tasks/ missions.
  7. Prepares and submits training related reports.
  8. Performs other tasks as required.

B. Independence: Performs duties under the general supervision of the Chief Trainer Operations.  Performs tasks within broad objectives IAW approved doctrine with significant choice of methods to achieve desired results.

 

C. Supervisory Responsibilities: Supervises one Interpreter/Translator. 

Qualifications

A. Education Level: High School Graduate.  Advance Course Graduate. Armor or Infantry Master Gunner Course Graduate preferred. An equivalent combination of college level courses, military and job site experience may be substituted.

 

B. Experience: Six (6) years of training and operations experience in US Military heavy battalion/brigade. Two (2) years as Master Gunner of a company/battalion or higher preferred. Related experience in Bradley/LAV-25 Gunnery Programs.

 

C. Specific knowledge, skill, and ability, requirements: Must be able to communicate effectively both orally and in writing. Knowledge of current US Army Tactics, Training Doctrine, and gunnery programs. Possess a valid driver's license.  Be Computer literate. Former SSG or above preferred.
