  • Overview

    The battery technician is primarily responsible for setup and maintenance of battery shop facility, inspecting and performing maintenance on battery systems. They ensure that the battery systems on GSE and aircraft are properly maintained and repaired. Maintains accountability for all battery section assets.  Maintain electrical/electronic elements of assembly’s nickel-cadmium and lead based batteries Issue and receipt of all batteries, test sets, and other equipment assigned to the battery section.  Provide other battery support as is outlined in the appropriate directives.  Manages the battery control program and account for all spare batteries.  Ensure all batteries bare the proper markings/labeling.  Operate and perform calibration and minor repairs of battery testing and general-purpose equipment. Responsible for conducting OJT on NMG soldiers as required. Provides training to Saudi National Guard soldiers to include certification recommendations for progression. Develop training programs, schedule training and document training in an automated training management system. Provide training reports to the Division training officer as required.

    A. Duties/responsibilities:

    1. Ensures that battery maintenance functional activities and procedures among designated VA organizations are planned, coordinated, integrated, and synchronized to achieve established operational readiness (OR) rates IAW contractual requirements.
    2. Responsible for the compliance with established battery maintenance systems, processes, procedures.
    3. Establishes daily battery section maintenance processes to achieve operational goals, objectives and priorities for implementation in order to achieve stated OR rates.
    4. Oversees the daily tool maintenance management in support of the battery section and manger.
    5. Works within the maintenance quality control processes, procedures, standards.
    6. Conducts OJT training on MNG soldiers.
    7. Develop training curriculum
    8. Schedule training
    9. Document training using automated training management systems.
    10. Perform other task as assigned.

    B. Independence: Follows instructions of the ASB production control. Authority to select and implement goals and objectives within the execution of duties and responsibilities.


    C. Supervisory Responsibilities: none


    A. Education Level: High School diploma or equivalent. 


    B. Experience: Minimum of three (3) years’ experience at the journeyman level working with battery testing and property accountability. Former battery technician managing multiple types of batteries. US Military or civilian technical trainer experience required. Experience in overseas contracting environments desired.


    C. Specific knowledge, skill, and ability requirements: Knowledgeable in working with technical maintenance manuals.  Ability to communicate in English.  Work safely and an ability to work well with others.


    D. Other: Able to follow instructions.  Lift and carry 20 kilos


    E. Possesses a valid driver’s license
