  • Overview

    Provides management assistance to the Maintenance Depot Command and General Support Maintenance Unit Commanders to ensure the General Support Maintenance Unit is functionally capable of utilizing modernized procedures.  Provides daily management assistance to the General Support Maintenance Unit Commander, Maintenance Officer and Supply Officer; develops and supervises training programs to enhance management skills.

    A. Duties/Responsibilities:

    1. Provides technical and managerial assistance to the Commander and all elements of the General Support Maintenance Unit in developing and maintaining a viable maintenance activity in planning and executing daily operations
    2. Assists in establishing requirements for the development of automated logistics management information system.
    3. Assists the General Support Maintenance Unit with priorities using standardized procedures to achieve increased efficiency in accordance with modernization program objectives.
    4. Responsible for ensuring company trainers are performing to prescribed standards.  Institutes corrective action as required.
    5. Periodically evaluates the performance of the General Support Maintenance Unit and recommends improvements and changes.
    6. Reviews reports and management data generated by the General Support Maintenance Unit to ensure compliance with modernization procedures in order to meet management objectives.
    7. Enhances General Support Maintenance Unit Commander’s skills thru training assistance in analysis of data maintained by production control, tech supply and shop operations.
    8. Assisted by an interpreter/translator, resolves maintenance related issues arising between General Support Maintenance Unit and supported units.
    9. Performs periodic and disciplinary counseling on assigned employees.
    10. Responsible for employee accountability and time keeping procedures.
    11. Performs other duties as assigned.

    B. Independence: Acts under supervision of Maintenance Operations Branch Manager.  Performs under own responsibility with choice methods.

     

    C. Supervisory Responsibility: Manages daily activity of approximately 25 personnel and overall operations of General Support Maintenance Unit.

    Qualifications

    A. Education Level: High School Diploma. Associates Degree preferred.  Military or equivalent civilian training in weapon systems and/or automotive maintenance at the Direct Support or General Support maintenance Levels.  Some possible preferred military occupational specialties are 45Z, 45K, 45G, 91L, 91M, 63H, 63Z, 63H, 63W, 63B, 91B, 91M, 91Z, 91Z, 915A or comparable specialties in the Navy, Marine Corps and Air Force

     
    B. Experience: Minimum of 10 years’ experience in civilian or military logistics in Armament and automotive repair at the Direct Support and General Support level preferred.  Minimum of 5 years’ supervisory experience.

     
    C. Specific knowledge, skills, abilities and requirements: Knowledge of logistics management policies, principles, techniques and procedures; knowledge of planning and developing training; ability to communicate effectively, orally and in writing; computer literate.  Must possess a valid US driving license and be capable of obtaining a KSA driver’s license.
