Assists Ministry of the National Guard personnel in organization and operation of the Allied Trades workshops. Provides hands on training on matters relating to supervision, leadership, workflow management, shop operations, and quality assurance. Provides follow-on training as required. Provides technical training as instructed by the General Support Maintenance Unit Chief.
B. Independence: Acts under the general supervision of the General Support Maintenance Unit Chief. Performs with some choice of method.
C. Supervisory Responsibilities: One assistant Trainer.
A. Education Level: High School graduate and military or civilian technical school graduate in welding and metal fabrication. Certification in fabricating steel, aluminum and other ferrous and nonferrous metal items using metal inert gas welding, tungsten metal inert gas welding , Oxygen/Acetylene plasma and Arc Welding methods. Possesses current certification on D1.1 structural welding code – steel from the American Welding Society.
B. Experience: A minimum of 6 years’ experience at the Direct Support or General Support level or the equivalent combination of education and experience in a civilian organization requiring accredited certification of level of ability.
C. Specific knowledge, skills, abilities, and requirements: Ability to read and interpret blueprints; capable of developing input for blueprints and technical drawings associated with fabrication, modification and installation of components. Ability to work with an automated supply and maintenance system. Ability to communicate effectively. Possesses a valid driver's license. Must be computer literate and able to use Microsoft Office applications.
