  • Overview

    Performs duties as a metal worker in an aviation environment. Fabricates, repairs, and modifies metallic and nonmetallic parts, utilizing such machines as engine lathes, utility grinders, power cutoff saws, armature, bending brakes, undercutters, arbor and hydraulic presses, drill presses, and their associated attachments, accessories, and tools. Provides training reports to the Division training officer as required. Conducts MNG OJT training as required.  Ensures that all related operations are conducted in a safe manner

    A. Duties/responsibilities:

    1. Ensures that welding and fabrication activities and procedures among designated organizations are    planned, coordinated, integrated, and synchronized to achieve established operational readiness (OR) rates IAW contractual requirements.
    2. Establishes daily maintenance operational goals, objectives and priorities for implementation in-order to achieve stated AGSE/GSE OR rates.
    3. Works within the maintenance quality control processes, procedures, and standards.
    4. Other tasks as directed by the PC Manager.

    B. Independence: Performs within the broad guidelines of duties and responsibilities with significant choice of methods. Retains the authority to select and implement goals and objectives within the execution of duties and responsibilities.


    C. Supervisory Responsibilities: As assigned.


    A. Education Level Requirements: 

    1. High school diploma or equivalent required.  

    B. Experience Requirements:

    1. Experience working in support of an aviation facility.
    2. Minimum of four (5) years’ experience at the journeyman level machinist with experience with aluminum, steel, stainless steel.
    3. Ability to read and interpret blueprints and technical drawings.

    C. Specific Knowledge, Skills, Certifications, and Ability Requirements:

    1. Graduate of a US Military machinist course or civilian equivalent.
    2. Proficient in working with technical maintenance manuals.
    3. Ability to lift and carry 50 lbs. unassisted.
    4. Proficient in the use of computer-hosted interactive technical manuals, aircraft maintenance forms, and other aircraft related documentation. 
    5. Proficient in MS Office software. 
    6. Professional verbal, written, and interpersonal communication skills.
    7. Ability to effectively communicate with the customer in a professional and courteous manner. 
    8. Possess a valid US issued driver’s license and passport.
    9. Successfully pass an overseas deployment physical upon hire.
