  • Overview

    Responsible for operations and administration of the CGSC Translation Section (CGSCTS).  Responsible for systematic and recurring operations that produce the highest degree of consistency, quality, accuracy and responsiveness in support of the team.  Integrates all aspects of translation, QACQ, media, and Subcontracting.  Executes all aspects of managing the translation process.  Maintains manual and automated management and administrative tools and data necessary to provide timely, accurate reporting.  Works proactively to mitigate or minimize anticipated problems and issues. Executes all aspects of physical requirements to support the work force in areas such as supply, equipment, infrastructure, office space, software and hardware, and overall resources for the team.  Maintains personnel and equipment accountability status within the team.  Assists the team leader with leave management, counseling and other administrative functions that impact the personal and professional well-being of individual employees. Coordinates internally and externally as necessary to execute the duties of this position.

    A. Duties/responsibilities:

    1. Supports the Translation Branch manager in all aspects of the translation mission. Serves as the MTT Operations Officer to drive all aspects of the production schedule. 
    2. Integrates all aspects of the MTT enterprise and integrates vertically and horizontally; serves as administrative and operational link to Leader Development Branch.   
    3. Resources and facilitates ongoing work requirements and surge requirements as they occur.
    4. Works a member of a cross functional in support of CAPSTONE exercise.
    5. Maintains status of personnel and equipment.
    6. Gathers data from Section Leaders to prepare production reports and provide visibility of the process status for translation, QA, and CQ to ensure deliverables are provided on schedule.  Oversees the Production Schedule Excel Matrix.
    7. Maintains accountability for incoming and outgoing translation materials. 
    8. Assists in the administration and sustainment activities for the branch.
    9. Oversees the work of the MTT Knowledge Management Specialist to ensure vertical and horizontal integration of KM.
    10. Integrates all aspects of Subcontracting and serves as the backup to the Language Translation Coordinator. 
    11. Assists in implementation and compliance with Vinnell Arabia (VA) policies and standing operating procedures (SOPs).
    12. Facilitates information flow throughout the team.
    13. Utilizes project management software to enable the entire translation process.      
    14. Performs other mission-related duties, as required by the Team Leader.

     

    B. Supervisory Responsibilities: Supervises the MTT Knowledge Management Specialist.

    Qualifications

    A. Education Level: Associates degree equivalent required; Bachelor’s Degree is preferred. An equivalent combination of college level courses, military training and job site experience may be substituted. Arabic language familiarization is an advantage.   

     

    B. Experience: A minimum of 7-20 years’ experience in military or government is a significant advantage in order to apply military experience to the translation mission.  Experience in administration, operations, supply, logistics, staff and training are all value added. 

     

    C. Specific Knowledge, Skill, Ability, Requirements: Knowledge of military management, supply and training principles and procedures; knowledge of supervisory principles and management techniques; ability to communicate effectively both orally and in writing; ability to deal effectively with people. Proficient in Arabic at 2/2 or 3/3 is preferred, but not required.  Must be computer literate. Must be an expert with Microsoft Office Suite software.  Must possess a valid US driver’s license.
